PostSubject: "New" RCZ Owner says "Bonjour"   Mon Aug 04, 2014 11:31 am

Hello to everyone on this forum!

I just picked up a second hand 2011 RCZ about a month ago.

Glad to know there is a local forum.

My warranty is coming to an end I was wondering what remap options do owners of a Peugeot have with a THP 156 engine? Would be grateful to hear from the Masters here!

Thanks in advance!

Yeah... it seems a little thin on the ground for Peugeot owners. I found etuner's authorised seller here but i think they've never touched a THP156 before.

There are alot. Depends on what you are looking for. Hahaha!

Lots of fellow 308s already poisoned deeply by me.

There are alot of stuff for your THP156 engine.

For RCZ specific, there are alot as well.

I like the sounds of that!

Currently, i'm just looking for a mild tune. Something to improve driveability, throttle response and (if possible) shift speeds (which seems a little sluggish).

Done the big turbo, PowerFC, etc, route on a previous car and had enough. Singapore roads are generally no fun to drive anymore anyway (IMHO). Just want a refined driving experience now.

Main thing on my mind is "who can tune this engine reliably"? Is a piggyback/chip option better or a remap better (given local skills) and my requirements of a "stage 1" tune?

Also, where do i get a K&N air replacement filter here?

I'd be willing to take this discussion offline or in a different sub-thread, if it helps others.

Hi all,

Shortlisted and considering a 2012 RCZ, but im not sure if this is a okay car to get?
Concerns i have is;
1."Is this a problematic Car?"
2. Will servicing cost be higher than Japanes Car like Honda CRV?

As this car is for my wife and our knowledge on cars are quite limited, thus we hope to get a more reliable car for her.
Other options we have is BMW 116i and VW Scirocco.

Thanks inadvance for any advice.

Hi CRV48,

Welcome to the forum.

To answer your question (1), certainly more problematic than Honda. European cars can't hold a candle to any Japanese car brand if you talk about frequency of workshop visits.

(2).. Yes servicing cost is higher than CRV due to higher parts price. Labour is about the same.

As for the RCZ, 116i and VW Scirocco....This is my personal opinion.

Stay away from VW Sciocco 1.4TSi 7 sp DSG. You will surely regret due to gearbox problem every 20K mileage. Locally 95% is this 1.4TSi. If you can find a 2L TFsi then it is highly recommended because they use 6 speed DSG which is trouble free and the 2L engine is award winning. It has more bhp than rated.

116i has stronger branding but the shape is not so sexy as RCZ. 116i is a faster car although it is only 136bhp vs 156 bhp RCZ. You have to believe it because tested already. The 116i does have some interior rattles if you don't mind it. Overall built quality goes to 116i.

RCZ is really a sexy lifestyle car and prices for the used ones are getting reasonable due to the seating capacity. Only a handful of buyers for this model. Running cost will not be too high if it is used sparingly.

Hope my 2 cents can assist you. Have a good day.
