PostSubject: New Owner of 308 Allure 1.2T    Wed Jun 08, 2016 7:41 am

Hi all,

my new 5 mth old pug 308 is due to 1st servicing next mth. Was told to go back AF for half yearly or 5K (whichever comes first), in order to cover under warranty. Is thi s frequency right? sound too frequent to me.

Understand most engines are run-in at factory, frequent servicing for new cars not neccessary. Any bro fall under similar situation? what is the rightful interval?

Appreciate sharing from Lion Den:)

For my preference, although so call factory run in, I will still do the first oil change at 5000km due to all the debris still in the new engine.

The oil in the new car may not necessarily be fresh oil but from the pre-run in at the factory. We won't know.

The debris from the moving parts for brand new engine need to be flushed out.

Confirm the subsequent service interval from 10K onwards and stick to it.

Although AF say for my GTi is every 10K, I still do a in between oil change at 15K, 25K....alternate between AF and outside workshop.

Now warranty over I still do oil change every 5K.

5k service is probably because it is a new car subsequently from 10k onwards, it will be every 10k.

Hi John,
Took delivery of my 308SW Allure in March and mileage is approaching 5,000km. I agree with you that the first oil change shld be after 5,000km as you explained about new engine debris. This was the practice with my previous Jap cars. But AF asked me to call for free servicing only after 10,000km?? They trying to skim on the free service? Assuming we are all talking about Fully synthetic oil, I think every subsequent 10,000km oil change shld be fine.
I'm considering just bringing in the car to AF at 5,000km for the first service. Otherwise where do you recommend for Pug servicing, noting u alternate between AF and external workshops. Look forward to your advise. Thanks!

Basic oil change any workshop can do.

Oil wise the rating for THP engines is A3/B4.

Not sure which engine is yours and what rating to use. I think is indicated in manual.

Most reputable brands should be OK. Some oils I have used before are like Shell Helix Ultra from Giant, Castrol Edge Titanium, Elf and Total.

The popular Peugeot workshops are like Thomas and Partner and Antz Automobile.

I am with Rage Performance Technik now and using Bardhl fluids for engine oil, gear oil, coolant and brake fluids. Modifications also with them.
