PostSubject: Peugeot 2008 1.2L   Sat Jul 18, 2015 7:43 pm

Had a Peugeot 2008 1.2 for half year with varying problems such as water seepage in both head lamps and malfunctioning windows.
Pretty concerned with that many problems with a newish car.

Fuel efficiency at 12km/L (avg) for a 1.2L engine is a joke as well. Is it just me with just the mediocre fuel consumption? Is there something wrong? Help!

Hi,

Peugeot cars being French origins are not the best in quality. You have to accept the fact.

Otherwise it is quite enjoyable to drive. FC depends very much on the traffic conditions and the right foot input. Very Happy

Hihi, has Peugeot managed to rectify your issues, and if FC has improved to 20KM/L?

Are you still driving it? Would you mind to share your likes and dislikes?

thanks.

FC varies a lot with driving conditions. In fact, FC is also related to style of driving too. 12km/L to 14km/L should be the correct range for a turbo 1.2L with 230nm of torque. When it gives power, it got to eat fuel. Very Happy

Haha...of course all of us wish to have great consumption and those marketing flyers does make potential owners nod their heads.

Perhaps you may have to look at the variations by percentage. There are FC figures given for highway, city and inner city.

Turbocharged cars tends take longer time to fully run in for good FC, about 20,000kms. Small cc turbocharged cars are perfect for city driving. If our 156thp engine were to run the same traffic conditions, we probably will get 9 to 10km/L.

To get good consumption, you will really need to be very gentle on the gas pedal. Toyota uses very linear input for the gas pedal, means when you step half, you get 50% throttle opening. In Peugeot, they are using electronic throttle, so the ECU will usually input more than what you step on the pedal. That is to say, step 1/4 and ECU will input half throttle. This will make your car feel lively.

But when the continue to step further on the pedal, you realised it is max out already. This is the effects of electronic throttle.
